Letters + Gift Exchange

While couples getting married in the church already have a beautiful set of vows to share at the altar, exchanging letters can be an additional way to add to your sentiments and prayers for your marriage with one another in the hours leading up to the ceremony.

If you have hired a videographer for your wedding day, letters are also a natural way to incorporate heartfelt audio from each of you into your final video.

While giving a gift to your new spouse isn’t required, it can be a thoughtful gesture! Some couples will gift one another an item that has a practical purpose for the wedding day itself - a watch for the groom, a bracelet for the bride, etc. Other times there is a sentimental significance to it. Because of this, some couples want to capture their fiance’s reaction while the gift is opened.

Reading letters are completely optional, but can be a really sentimental part of a wedding day.

Just make sure you have a way of getting these items to each other ahead of time. (Either by exchanging it at the rehearsal dinner or having an attendant drop it off.)

The alternative time couples opt to do this is at the first look or in private the night before without photos.

The getting ready portion of the day is another great time to exchange letters or gifts.
